The Effects Of Black Children On Poverty And The Low...
ââ¬Å"America is failing its young Black boysâ⬠(Prager, 2011, p.1). It is a bold statement about the conditions of Black children in America. This research paper addresses the low likelihood that poor Black children may overcome poverty because of conditions such as negative environment, poverty stressors (e.g., crime, violence, health issues), and parental influence. It is a controversial issue as studies suggest parental behaviors as well as community and school involvement can help poor Black children out of poverty, yet other studies suggest stressors such as emotional and health issues or participating in welfare systems as a result of poverty will heavily impact if not deter future success. Despite programs instituted to fight the war on poverty, the issue remains prevalent and studies, e.g., impact of welfare reform, continue to provide relevant information on the impact of poverty. The research for this paper focuses on Black children living in poverty and the lo w likelihood they will overcome poverty. The research is valuable because ââ¬Å"Black and Hispanic children were more than twice as likely to live in poverty in 2007 as non-Hispanic white and Asian children.â⬠(Moore, Redd, Burkhauser, Mbwana Collins, 2009, p. 2). Experiences of Audit Committee Members â⬠Free Samples to Students
Question: Discuss about the Experiences of Audit Committee Members. Answer: Introduction: This is a case study, which portrays the issues in the organization named D.H.P. stores. D.H.P. stores are a retailer of consumer goods in the market and have many outlets across Canada. The focus of the organization is one the house ware and hardware. The competitive rivals for the organization are Home Hardware and Canadian Tire. Lisa, the Vice President of the marketing department and have decide to launch credit cards so that retain the present consumers and gain more consumers in the market. This would facilitate in the expansion of the business and increase the amount of sales in each of the stores (Dengue, 2017). The main issue is that Ray Patton had gone to the stores and misbehaved with the people in the organization. This had created tension within the store managers and the marketing team. This has caused the Vice President of operations department to be furious and an explanation is required to make him understand what the main problem is (Rudani, 2013). The rival companies in the industry all have their own sets of credit cards so the organization will have to implement this strategy if they want to compete with the other companies in the market. The other issue was that there was lack in the promotional materials in most of the stores and the operations were reluctant in selling the products. Lisa had gone to five to six store and have found out that there were lack in the promotional materials in the market. This policy was the way of gaining loyalty of the consumers in the market. However, after ten days from the launch of the promotional activity it is seen that many of the stores had little promotional material for display (Wisner, Tan Leong, 2014). Lisa felt that the consumers can be acquired mainly at the store level so it was important that the promotional materials would have displayed and the operations department would have to make some effort so that the credit cards could be sold to the present consumers and the new consumers. When the proposition was made, it was decided that finance will handle all the aspects of administration, credit and collection. The marketing was supposed to handle the launching of the c ard all over the nation and other promotional activities to support the development of the product campaign. The operations were supposed to handle the sales of the product. However, it has been seen that the operations department are not following the instructions that had been decided in the meeting. The head of the operations decided that selling of the product is the department of the operations as this a product which will help in increasing the loyalty of the consumers (Stark, 2015). Even though the operations department took the initiative to sell the product however, it is seen that they are reluctant about the selling of the product. The majority of the stores are not using the promotional materials and the store managers are not pushing the employees to make an effort sell the credit cards. Thus, if the operations are not doing their work properly then the marketing campaign will fail and the capital that have been spent on this campaign will be wasted and the organization will be unable to implement the strategy that has already been applied by the market competitors (Cohen, Krishnamoorthy Wright, 2017). This can be cause for the downfall of the organization and it will be tough for the organization to maintain their sustainability in the market. Thus, these are the issues and the problems that the organization is currently facing. It is recommended that the marketing team report all the instances to the higher ups in the organization. This will include the vivid description of the wrong doings of the operation department with evidence so that it can be proved. Moreover, the actions against the store managers will have to be taken so that they could take initiative and sell the product with much more eagerness. However, the marketing team will have to revaluate the division of the work and should take the initiative of selling the product as it is one of the major strategies which will provide the organization with competitive advantage. The main problem with the strategy was that other promotional campaigns were getting more priority then the campaign for the credit card. Thus, Lisa will have to call for a meeting to set the priorities right so that the campaign for the credit card is given the utmost priority (Goetsch Davis, 2014). This promotional campaign was the idea of the marketing team of the company s o the initiative will have to be taken by them. Lisa will have to call the president to provide him with the detail report on the progress of the campaign. She will have to highlight the fact that the companies will fail miserably if they do not do anything. This is because of the fact that Adam is the head of the operations department and so it must be under his instruction that the priorities of the campaigns have been changed. Alternatives and decisions Lisa will have to take the permission of the president to set up a meeting with the operations team so that the promotional campaign can be brought back on track. There are two solutions that they can come up with, first is to convince the operation team to change their priorities and keep this campaign as their utmost priority. However, the disadvantage of this alternative is that it will be difficult to convince the operations team to change their priorities. Moreover, the process is time consuming so it will take some of time to sort out this issue. The other solution is that as it the initiative of the marketing team, the marketing team will in charge of selling of the products through special representatives in each of the stores (Anderson et al., 2015). Moreover, there should be a supervisor to monitor the daily sales and the success of the plan so that the report it back to the head of the tournament. Therefore, the decisions in the meeting will have to be conveyed to all the stores so that the new strategies can be implemented as soon as possible. The disadvantage of this alternative is that the cost of the marketing team will increase and they will have to make use of excess resources. Moreover, the operation team is not cooperating with the marketing team so it will be difficult to sell the products with the support from the operational team. Reference Anderson, D. R., Sweeney, D. Wassily Kandinsky Essay Example
Wassily Kandinsky Paper In the 19th Century, paintings were very structured. Artists painted what they saw. Knowing this is what the public expected, Wassily Kandinsky began his abstract painting in a way in which others could still distinguish features such as his most recurrent subjects such as mountains, villages, trees and churches. I feel Kandinsky was trying to fulfil what the public wanted rather than fulfil his own needs as an artist in the early years as a painter. In 1908 Kandinsky made the life changing decision to move to Marnau, where he concentrated on his painting. Here is where he explored the areas in painting which neither he or anyone else had ever touched upon. In Kandinskys earlier landscapes, although we do see a freer composition style, with passionate outbursts of colour I do not believe he had been painting in his true style. At this time, Kandinsky still favoured a more structured way of painting. But we do often, more regularly in his later paintings, see examples of shapes moving freely in space. Kandinskys colourful palette is based on the primaries, red, yellow and blue. Paintings such as Couple Riding in 1906. And Beach Baskets in 1905. Working alongside well known artists such as Cà ¯Ã ¿Ã ½zanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. It is easy to look at Kandinskys progress towards abstraction by looking at his work between 1908 and 1912. Recognisable paintings turn into completely independent compositions. Mountains and trees become lines and curves. Animals and buildings become fantastic figures. Colour loses its illustrative function. As his forms and colour become more independent, the topic of painting becomes less important. In his autobiography, Kandinsky wrote, Several years where to go by before I reached the conviction this more by a process of reasoning than by any sentimental attachment that nature and art have different organic and historical ends, but that both are equally valid [] everything that was dead began to pulsate with life [] everything revealed itself, its very essence, its hidden soul, which was silent more often than not. Thus, each point at rest and each point in movement (which equals the line) came to life and opened up its soul. And this was enough to enable me to seize, with all my being, and all my senses, the potential and the existence of art, this art which there days, by contrast to what is called the figurative, is termed abstract. I believe Kandinsky comes into his own light in his First Abstract Watercolour, painted in 1910. From then on Wassily Kandinsky did not turn back. His paintings went from strength to strength. 1910 is the year where Kandinsky set out his new inventive principles. He believed that each colour has its own quality that gives its own impression. Yellow is warm and stimulating where as blue is severe and cold. Kandinsky also gave forms and interpretation. Yellow is associated with the acute angle and the triangle where as blue is associated with the obtuse angle and the circle. Making optical features filter through the observers emotions to become an elementary means of expression. It is safe to say that Kandinsky was one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. Without his revolutionary new style of painting a lot of artists of today would not exist. Kandinsky had the gift of synthaesthesia, this is when one of his senses is stimulated, and another reacted. For instance, he saw a colour when listening to a note on an instrument. With Kandinsky, colours and sounds appeal to different feeling. To Kandinsky colour not only has a temperature, yellow being warm, but it also has a meaning. Yellow is active and aggressive whilst blue is shy and passive. Yellow is hard and sharp and blue is soft and yielding. I myself have always associated certain things with certain colours, like numbers or words. The number four to me is red and the number one is white. Although it does not happen anywhere near to the extent as it does to Wassily Kandinsky, I can relate to his feeling and his paintings. Knowing these facts, I have learnt to appreciate Kandinskys works to the fullest. You can make your own mind up about his earliest works of which I am not a great fan of, especially after researching for this assignment. This is because I feel he was not painting in the style in which he craved for. It was not well known and I believe he thought the public would not have accepted his compositions. But by 1910, Kandinsky had learnt to express his own feelings into an art piece and discovered a world of his own. I am also particularly fond of Kandinsky, not just because of his excellent use of colour and space but for his great revolution in the art world. He changed the way people see art today, without him, a lot of artists would not painting the way they do, abstract expressionism has a lot to thank Wassily Kandinsky. Dying in Paris at the age of 78 in 1944, I believe he lived a full life achieving his full potential. Looking back over his paintings and the way his style changed over the years I can see that the last few years of his life is where his true form was revealed.

What is the Meaning of Life in the Works of Gilgamesh and Agamemnon
What is the Meaning of Life in the Works of Gilgamesh and Agamemnon Introduction Men and women alike have tried to define the purpose of life in vain. Trying to answer the question ââ¬Ëwhat is the meaning of life?ââ¬â¢ has been one of the hardest tasks for humanity. In this article, I will make an attempt to briefly shade some light on this question. Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on ââ¬Å"What is the Meaning of Life?â⬠in the Works of Gilgamesh and Agamemnon specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More I will heavily borrow from the works of Gilgamesh and Agamemnon in trying to answer this question. I view these two works to be quite relevant in answering the question as the events taking place in the two works have an accurate reflection of the present day life. What is the meaning of life? Answering the above question needs a deep reflection. From the religious point of view, a person has a divine purpose which he/she ought to accomplish in his/her lifetime. Does that therefore mea n that oneââ¬â¢s life is predetermined? And if it is predetermined, then why should we struggle to accomplish missions which will somehow be accomplished ââ¬â since they are predetermined! Gilgamesh and Agamemnon Examining the works and lives of the Gilgamesh and Agamemnon one is left wondering why a person in a prestigious position should undergo so many miseries. Is it justified to suffer for the sake of gaining fame? This is what we mostly see in the lives of Gilgamesh and Agamemnon. Gilgamesh goes to all lengths to gain fame. In the course of doing this, there are a number of people who suffer because of his quests: Enkidu died miserably as a result of the conquests of Gilgamesh. It is a pity to see Gilgamesh trying to make the afterlife of Enkidu smooth by trying to appease the gods to accept him (Mack, 1997). Is it not ironical that at the end of his great conquests, Gilgamesh and Enkidu have bitter endings? One readily gets attempted to ask the question, ââ¬Ëis li fe meant to have a bitter ending after a sweet lifetime?ââ¬â¢ If the answer is yes, then what is the meaning of life? Life reciprocates proportionally Arguing philosophically we can claim that one determines the fate of his life. With respect to this view, then the meaning of life will be what you want it to be. Advertising Looking for essay on philosophy? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More In other words you determine what meaning your life will have. I find this argument quite practical in the present life as well I find it quite applicable in the two works being discussion in this article. Gilgamesh is seen seeking fame by trying to dethrone some gods and exalting himself above them, what does he expect back? This is also very evident in the life Agamemnon. Agamemnon gets involved in heinous activities, what does he expect back? Agamemnonââ¬â¢s miseries clearly have roots in the evils committed by him and thos e close to him. This argument leads us to the point of knowing that life reciprocates proportionally to what we do. So, what is the meaning of life? Now that we know that life reciprocates proportionally to what we do then what does that mean. From the above arguments I have made above, I believe that life is a chance one gets to make the world a better place or at least to participate in making the world a better place. Logically, then life is chance for one to experience his/her own actions. This calls for the need for every person to be accountable for what he/she does. If we embrace hearts of good faith towards our neighbors including the environment then we are more likely to find life a bit enjoyable. We are less likely to face misfortunes which often make us wonder what life means. Reference Mack, M. (1997). The Norton anthology of world masterpieces. New York, NY: Norton.

Benefits of green tea on oral health Research Paper - 1
Benefits of green tea on oral health - Research Paper Example These illnesses included periodontitis, gingivitis, as well as dental trauma, for example, oral cysts, subluxation, and after wisdom tooth removal. Oral health is a determining element for quality life, vital for healthiness, and a vital part of over-all health. In the European Union, the socio-economic obligation of oral illnesses is substantial: they affect a greater part of school-aged kids and grown-ups, and make up 5 percent of public health expenditure (Cho, Oh & Oh 357). Costs of established curative cure have escalated from 54 billion pounds in 2000 to 79 billion pounds in 2012, plus are projected to increase up to 93 bn pounds by 2020. Therapy expenditure surpasses that of other illnesses, including heart disease, cancer, dementia as well as stroke. This is alarming, since most of dental diseases burden is avertible (Pavel & Pave 104). A variety of health disorders is linked with oral ailment. Poorly regulated diabetes ailment is a well-recognized risk cause for fostering periodontal failure and latest research displays how protracted gum diseases may increase diabetic impediments (Erridge, Cox & Dixon 152). Gum ailments are also linked with coronary heart syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and adversative pregnancy outcomes. Oral illnesses are easily avoidable by healthy nutrition, consistent dental check-ups as well as routine personal dental hygiene habits, including re-current oral check-ups, the usage of mouthwashes and toothpastes with fluoride, inter-dental washing, and chewingno-sugar chewing gum while traveling. Frequent fluoride exposure, consistent brushing, a nutritious diet as well as routine dental care all add to enhanced oral health results and a decrease in oral healthiness inequities (Pham-Huy, Pham-Huy & He 12). In revelation of this, attempting to expose the full capacity of oral inhibition appears to be an extremely encouraging policy method to decrease the considerable costs and burden of oral
